That’s what they call the millepedes that are really common here. I don’t know about you, but I will never be comfortable enough with any creepy-crawly to feel okay about “giant” being a part of their name. But alas, my son feels differently. He’s spent hours the past few days “caring for”, hunting, and making coil into balls these not-so-lovely but very prevalent creatures.

They often find their way into our house, and I’ve inadvertantly stepped on a few, while barefoot, and they “burst”. NASTY.
I actually don’t know which I prefer… Silas catching frogs and trying to convince me that they should sleep in his bed or him playing with the giants? I guess boys will be boys…

Something akin to those creepy crawlies is what I imagined when I read The Screwtape Letters. Yuck!

Oh…I’m so glad Jack isn’t ‘into’ bugs. He thought they looked like worms and we fish with worms.

This totally grosses me out. You gotta get the heck out of there. Between the giant lizards, the puff adders and these disgusting daily guests in your home, I’d say the 1988 phrase “grody to the max” definitely applies.

Um, Gross. So today upon opening my cupboard, a gecko was crawling all over our plates. Those actually don’t ever bother me – because they eat all the bugs, but it was creepy crawling all over our plates, so I had to wash them. Daniel then comes up behind me and says, “yeah, but what else is on our plates that you don’t see?” Nice. So I LOVED your post about Silas. Yay for being home. I am so happy for you all.

Yechhhh!!! They’re like little snakes… and I don’t. like. snakes. It’s sweet that Silas likes to “take care” of them.

Honestly one of the loudest things I’ve ever stepped on… well at least when I stepped on it, it was loud!

Oh my! …….that’s all I have to say.

I believe these are called Shongololo by the natives.
