Oct 03 Etc…etc.

There’s so much to catch up on…  this is the only way I can get updated in blogesphere!!

  • We took a road trip to Lesotho for a cultural festival that was perfect for my husband’s research. And, as we know all too well… when taking road trips with little ones… sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.  Let’s just keep it brief and say this time… we lost.  It was a rough 48 hours.  I did bring back some soveniers… about 20 mysterious bug bites towards the bottom of my legs that itch like crazy- and one that is swollen and red with what appears to be teeth marks. YIKES. I’ll be keeping an eye on it.  Strange enough… no one else in the family got even one bite.  I must offer up some sweet flesh to the creepy crawly masses. Shame.
  • I was delighted when Kitty offered to share something delectable from her stash of American cuisine treats… she let me bust out one of my personal favorites… a box of velveeta shells and cheese.  This was no small deal, given that Kitty carefully rations her goods from the other side of the ocean. When the noodles were finally cooked, my mouth watered as I cut the top of the envelope containing the faux-cheese yumminess.  Then I saw it… this wanna-be cheese was rust colored, clumpy… and not at all normal.  I decided to check the expiration date on the box… which read 3/2004.  The greatest part? Kitty dove in spoon first and tried to convince me it was still edible.  Nope. I’m signing Kitty up for  compulsive-rationers-anonymous!!!
  • Last week there was a fire at the neighboring farm- a huge fire that had entire fields blazing. Nature is certainly a force to be reckoned with here… but so is man.  This enormous fire was started intentionally by someone that was obviously disgruntled.  Actually- he started several small fires- then someone spotted him from the road.  Guess what happened next?  The passerby caught up to the fire-starting villain, tied him up with a rope, and threw him in the back of his pick-up truck.  While the pick-up was going at full speed, Mr. Villain tried to escape and threw himself out of the truck.  He got banged up pretty bad and ended up in the hospital…followed by the jail.

maybe it was the rope in the fire story, but for some reason, I have the Indiana Jones theme song running through my head. ADVENTURE at its best.

Kitty…ya can’t ration that long past the expiration date. Can I mail you some shells and faux-cheese???

i love your new header!

fires are terrible, my friend lost 300 sheep in a fire last month. and the worst is, the guy who started the fire will probably walk free in a couple of weeks.
