Sep 20 Our History Here

There’s some history that makes us being here seem almost surreal.  I think it’s worth sharing.  When Dave and I worked with Niel and Alece back in the day (2000-01) we lived in a flat in town, that was connected to a house that served as the ministry base.  When we needed a break from our surroundings- we took a short drive out of town to Mt. Everest… a nearby game park with hiking, beautiful views, and a restaurant.  A year or so later… this ‘getaway place’…became Thrive’s new ministry base…  and is now our latest home.  Wow.

Switching gears on you… I feel compelled to chit-chat about the weather.  If you think of us being in Africa today… don’t think about the large radiant sun… but instead… think of the snow and freezing rain, the 36 degree temperatures… and the space heaters and layers of clothing that are keeping us warm.  This is South Africa…

I’m enjoying your posts about your adventure. On the driving post: When I drove in the UK, it wore me OUT. Such mental focus! Of course having five kids in the car at the time might have had something to do with that. :)

I found you from Alece’s blog. Looking forward to reading more.

YUCK. I’m ready for cooler, but not that. Bundle up. It’s 80 degrees here today, sun is out. Our extended forcast is sunny and upper 70’s for the next 6 days. GEORGOUS. Kind of unheard of around here. The leaves are just starting to change. This is my favorite time of year. I relish these days for I know our winter is ahead. ILY.
